Cuba and east China's Shandong Province signed five cooperation
agreements on infrastructure, information technology and communications,
the Cuban Foreign Ministry said Friday.
The signing ceremony in Havana was attended by Jiang Yikang, member of
the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial
Committee, and Cuban Exterior Commerce and Foreign Investment Vice
Minister Ramon Ripoll.
Ripoll said the agreements reflected the economic potential of Shandong,
as well as the high exchange volume and close ties between China and Cuba.
The agreements were important for the economic development of Cuba and
the growing presence of Chinese products in the country, Ripoll added.
With a yearly trade volume of 2.3 billion U.S. dollars, China is Cuba's
second largest commercial partner.
China is Cuba's biggest Asian supplier of capital and consumer goods,
ranging from buses and machinery to electrical appliances.
