MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Cabinet has submitted an
intergovernmental agreement for ratification to the lower house of
parliament on restructuring Cuba's $166 million post-Soviet debt to
Russia, the State Duma said Friday.
The Havana agreement on debt to Russia was signed on September 28, 2006.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said at the time that the
agreement envisages consolidating the debt and restructuring it over a
period of ten years.
Cuba's debt to the Soviet Union, which is subject to separate
discussions, is estimated at approximately $25 billion.
