Belarus considers oil refining, energy projects in Cuba

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by Viktor Sheiman,
aide of the President of Belarus on special matters, paid a visit to
Cuba to consider the prospects of implementing projects on upgrading the
Cuban oil refining and energy facilities. The Belarusian delegation has
been paying visits to Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba and Ecuador from 27 May
to 9 June, Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Office, Press
Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, told a briefing
on 3 June.

While in Cuba, the Belarusian delegation met with Deputy Chairman of the
Council of Ministers of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas, Minister of Foreign Trade
and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Basic Industries
Yadira Garcia, Minister of the Iron, Steel and Engineering Industries
Salvador Pardo Cruz, representatives of the branch-wise ministries and
departments. The Belarusian delegation also held negotiations with the
top executives of the leading Cuban foreign trade companies.

The sides considered possible upgrade projects at the oil refining and
energy facilities of Cuba, discussed further steps in assembling
tractors and setting up service and maintenance centers for the
Belarusian tractors and vehicles.

Belarus and Cuba agreed on the supplies of tractors, component parts to
buses and trucks, outlined new areas for intensifying the trade and
economic, sci-tech cooperation.

The Belarusian delegation is set to visit Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

The Belarusian representatives are expected to consider possible ways of
bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas area, metal mining industry,
engineering, construction, mull over the issues of delivering drilling,
agricultural equipment, food.

The Belarusian delegation also plans to discuss the possibilities of
supplying the Venezuelan market with the products of the engineering and
agricultural industries.
