Nirint ships will come in from Cuba

Nirint ships will come in from Cuba

Nirint Shipping has added a new service and another vessel in the Port
of Halifax.

Elias Hage, spokesman for Echo Freight Inc. of Montreal, Canadian agents
for the Rotterdam shipping line, said Monday the new service is being
routed between Halifax, Cuba and some other Caribbean ports. The ports
in Cuba include Moa, Havana and Matanzas.

The vessel S Commander, used in the new service, carries break bulk
cargo and has capacity for 377 TEUs (20-foot equivalent containers). It
has combined crane capacity of 67 tonnes.

The S Commander is the fourth Nirint vessel to call at Halifax. The
other three — Nirint Champion, Nirint Pride and Nirint Atlas — are part
of a service that includes Europe, Cuba and Halifax.

Mr. Hage said cargo heading to the Caribbean other than containers,
includes heavy machinery, trucks and tractors.

Nirint vessels have been calling at Halifax for about three years.
