HAVANA, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Cuba and Japan signed on Wednesday an
agreement on technical cooperation between the two governments.

The agreement, signed by Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuban Exterior Commerce
and Foreign Investment Minister, and Masuo Mishibayashi, Japanese
ambassador to Cuba, aimed to ease the procedures between the two nations
and boost more cooperation in necessary field.

At the signing ceremony, Malmierca said the cooperation between
Cuba and Japan has been greatly strengthened since the two nations set
up diplomatic ties 80 years ago.

According to the minister, their cooperation was mainly in four
fields including rice harvest, marine species, underground water sources
and integral management of solid residues.

For his part, Mishibayashi recalled that his country has received
over 600 Cuban students since 1961 when two Cuban students were for the
first time accepted to study in Japan.
