No injuries as Cuban airliner makes emergency landing in Dominican airport
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) reported
that Cubana de Aviación IL-62 plane was forced to make an emergency
landing in the Las Americas terminal, and its 117 occupants aboard were
unharmed.
The H201i262 aircraft took off from the terminal at 2:09 p.m. headed to
Havana, Cuba Sunday, and at 40 nautical miles, the pilot notified the
control tower of engine problems from a fire alarm.
The IDAC said rescue teams assisted the passengers and crew minutes
after the plane landed on the runway, as the airport was temporarily
closed to air traffic.
